The Queensland Police Credit Union (QPCU) this year launched its inaugural awards program aimed at recognising the work of everyday heroes in the Queensland community, as the organisation celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.
Nominations were opened across five categories to all Queenslanders who had made an outstanding contribution in the community or have given meritorious service to their association. Awards were given for Dedication, Working Together, Excellence, Ownership and Achievement.
Recipients were awarded $1,000, plus a further $1,000 was donated to each person’s nominated charity.
An awards ceremony was hosted at Brisbane City Hall, where a selection of new and vintage service vehicles were on display in King George Square, paying homage to Ambulance, Police and Fire services past and present.
There was widespread media coverage for the awards program, reaching over 3.7 million Queenslanders.
QPCU and KDPR are celebrating after the campaign was highly commended for Community Relations by the Public Relations Institute of Australia in the Golden Target Awards Queensland.
