Harry Seidler gave Brisbane a great gift in designing the Hilton Brisbane. Now artist Simon Degroot has given us another.
The Brisbane artist has created a major artwork, spanning 18 metres, above Vintaged Bar in the Hotel’s central atrium.
The painting recreates sketches by the legendary architect Harry Seidler himself, which were originally intended for the opening of the Hilton Brisbane in 1986.
In addition to the magnificent new piece of public art, a free exhibition showcasing Simon Degroot’s creative process in creating the mural, is running in the hotel’s business centre from 22 May to 30 August 2014.
There is also an opportunity to purchase one of the twelve pieces after the exhibition has closed.
