“ON the eve of the federal election, the profession that has been busier than most in recent weeks has elected a new head of their PR body in Queensland.
KDPR managing director Kristin Devitt, a former journalist, has been elected Queensland president of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and Queensland representative on the national council.
Devitt told the institute’s AGM at the Brisbane Club that she considered the industry had a few challenges ahead of it, such as continuing professional development for PR operatives, working better with other professional bodies and that journalists moving into the PR realm were embraced for the skills they brought and supported with professional development.
Of course, any journalist who does move over will forever bear the Mark of Cain, – never easy to rub off – so they need all the support they can get.”
