Australia: This 84-apartment complex in Brisbane, on the east coast of Australia, was developed by housing corporation BHC, which specialises in environmentally-sustainable buildings. In 2012, the corporation won an Australian Institute of Architecture President’s Award. Opened in June 2012 at a cost of A$21m, Quadrant received nationalEnviroDevelopment accreditation for five sustainability benchmarks across ecosystems, waste, energy, water and community. Use of potable water is reduced with a 20 kilo-litre rainwater tank.
